Tantalising twenties!

Anyone who knows me should have understood by now how much I am in love with 1920's America. Despite the fact the USA was hit severely by the Great Depression, the 20's really was the era in which some of the most iconic fashions swung into place! The jewelled headband, the sequinned dresses, the feathered skirts, all of these we still see in the modern fashion industry just with a few tweaks. I'm not sure about anyone else but as soon as I put on a 1920's style dress I just want to find the nearest Jazz band and dance with Sammy Davis till my hearts content. I believe that the most successful high street store to really pull off the extremely glamorous flapper dress is Miss Selfridge. During the past few years Miss Selfridge have taken a huge amount of inspiration from the roaring twenties and applied it to their clothing range. They have produced a wide variety of jewelled dresses in the flapper style, silver and gold headbands and more recently feathered skirts, dress and tops which typically have faux feathers lined around the hem. I loved seeing all of these styles in a very known height street store! The past is always re-entering itself back into modern day runways and this was one era of fashion that I was more than willing to welcome back! It is clear to see that a typical American 1920's woman took great pride in her new rebellious appearance, the red lipstick, the short hair, the beads dangling from neck to chest. All of which combined with the addition of fabulous Gatsby parties, prohibited alcohol and flapper girls, just seems like a recipe for ultimate happiness if you ask me! The colour, the accessories, the glitz, the glamour, are all reason as to why I believe the 20's was one of the best era's for fashion.
